The Dolomites, also known as the pale mountains, are a mountain range located in north-eastern Italy. The Dolomites are nearly equally shared between the provinces of Belluno, Bolzano and Trento. In 2009 parts of the Dolomites (e.g. the Alpe di Siusi) where proclaimed Natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The highest peak of the Dolomites is the Marmolata (3.342 m).
